It was not that long ago when it seemed like every family was driving around in a minivan. However, popularity of the spacious and practical vehicle type has waned dramatically since the height of minivan popularity in the 1990s. More families have turned to the more versatile SUV/crossover, which can offer plentiful seating but replaces excess cargo space with higher off-road performance.

Thankfully, there are some excellent minivan models still being produced that could fit the needs of large families. And finding a new or used minivan has never been easier, thanks to Kijiji Autos' Online Financing listings which makes finding and financing a vehicle a breeze without ever stepping foot in a dealership.

Now, in no particular order, let’s take a look at 10 of the coolest minivan brands.

1. Chrysler Pacifica

Inarguably, one of the best minivan models that can be bought today is the Chrysler Pacifica. Chrysler has been in the minivan game for a long time and has perfected its art over many decades. Available in a hybrid option, the Chrysler Pacifica is truly the modern minivan.

2. Kia Carnival

The Kia Carnival is the official replacement for the long-running Kia Sedona. The reliable minivans have been upgraded for luxury and look the part. The coolest minivan to be introduced in some time, the fourth-generation Kia Carnival, offers all the bells and whistles of a luxury SUV, but with a possible 11-seats configuration.

3. Honda Odyssey

The premiere Honda minivan, the Honda Odyssey, has been around since 1994. In its fifth generation, the sporty minivan is as great as ever. Boasted for its driving performance, the Honda Odyssey performs like a much smaller vehicle, and the price point is not bad either.

4. Toyota Sienna

The Toyota Sienna prides itself on its fuel efficiency, bolstered by a hybrid powertrain. Loaded with additional features, including lane departure warning and lane-keeping assistance, the Toyota minivan competes for top-of-the-line. There is also an AWD minivan option helping the Toyota Sienna stand apart from its field.

5. Dodge Grand Caravan

Unfortunately, the Dodge Grand Caravan was discontinued in 2020. However, the vehicle is still a standout of 2021 minivans. Before ending production, the model had a long-standing reputation as far back as 1984, winning multiple awards throughout the years. Thankfully, plenty of these outstanding vehicles are still available on the market.

6. Canoo Lifestyle Vehicle

Out with the old and in with the new. The Canoo Lifestyle Vehicle is a battery-electric minivan set to begin production in late 2022. The cool minivan takes an old concept into the future with its unique exterior and premium design concepts. Coming from a California-based startup company, the Canoo Lifestyle Vehicle hopes to break new ground.

7. Mercedes-Benz Metris Passenger

Out of all the car manufacturers still producing minivans, it would surprise most that Mercedes-Benz is on that list. The Mercedes-Benz Metris Passenger is a variation of its cargo van line of the same name or titled as the Mercedes-Benz Vito in European markets. Additionally, the minivan offers the lowest starting price for a new Mercedes-Benz in North America.

8. Ford Transit Connect Wagon

Once upon a time, Ford was all-in on the minivan market. Today, the last standing survivor is the Ford Transit Connect Wagon, a passenger variation of its panel van. In fact, Ford is well-known for manufacturing this vehicle as a passenger van and altering it upon arrival in America to avoid tariff fees.

9. Chrysler Grand Caravan

When the Dodge Grand Caravan production ended in 2020 in Canada, Chrysler took up the nameplate releasing the Chrysler Voyager as the Chrysler Grand Caravan. A variation of the Chrysler Pacifica line, these are the low-end priced 2022 minivan. The economic minivan still offers many of the great features of the pricier options but with one standard engine and transmission.

10. Volkswagen ID.Buzz

Starting as a concept vehicle in 2017, the Volkswagen ID.Buzz is set to begin production in 2022. The electric minivan is the second concept car shown from Volkswagen’s ID series. Aside from some unique visual designs, the Volkswagen ID.Buzz doubles down on the electric motor and can include an optional solar roof panel.
