Used RAM 1500s for sale

The Ram 1500 arrived in 1981 featuring simple styling with an "egg-crate" style grille and rectangular headlights. Due to tightening emissions regulations, the Ram 1500's 3.7-litre straight-6 engine produced just 95 horsepower, while the available 5.9-litre V8 fared slightly better at 170 horsepower. Four trim levels were available. A burly three-speed automatic transmission was developed along with a transfer case that allowed drivers to switch between two- and four-wheel drive on the move. Fuel injection began to raise engine outputs, with the available Cummins turbodiesel putting out 400 lb./ft. of torque.

Ram 1500 did it first

A new V10 engine with 300 horsepower and 450 lb./ft. of torque was introduced, and further developments throughout the 1990s helped to raise power outputs while increasing towing and payload capabilities. The four-door pickup truck was seen on the Ram 1500 before any other vehicle, with leather seats, power mirrors and keyless entry to follow. The Ram 1500 was updated once again in 2009, bringing sleek new styling and a heavily revised interior featuring a backup camera, iPod compatibility and heated seats. Ram continues to innovate with the RamBox system, which features large watertight and lockable pockets on either side of the bed.
