Cadillac SRX Summary
The Cadillac SRX is a powerful and spacious SUV crossover. Although discontinued in 2016, the SRX has many unique amenities and luxurious touches that make it a good choice for those focused on either style or practicality. Both a 3.6 L V6 engine and 4.0 L V8 engine are available, giving this SUV both power and pace—though, this does come at the cost of high fuel consumption. Four different trim levels are available: base, luxury, performance and premium. All models are available with a five-speed automatic transmission, while a six-speed automatic transmission can be found in later models.
Cadillac SRX Safety
All Cadillac SRX generations and trims include child safety locks and seat anchors to keep your children safe while on the road. The vehicle is fully equipped with front and rear head airbags, side curtain airbags and dual front-side mounted airbags. Dusk-sensing headlamps and front fog lights assist when visibility is poor. Other features that come standard in the Cadillac SRX as old as 2006 include:
- Electronic Stability Control and Traction Control for better handling in adverse conditions
- Four-wheel antilock braking system (ABS) to prevent skidding in slippery conditions
In recent models from 2016, the Luxury trim added advanced features like a rearview camera, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert to help you back up and change lanes safely.
Cadillac SRX Interior
Common interior amenities like air conditioning and electric windows are standard in the Cadillac SRX. Leather seating comes in all vehicles, which does a lot to create a premier interior feel. Rear air conditioning became optional with the 2009 model. Heated front seats and a wood interior trim are standard in all models 2016 onward. For earlier years, the inclusion of these features will depend on the trim level.
Cadillac SRX Technology
One of the more attractive perks in the Cadillac SRX is the vehicle's Navigation system, with GPS and voice and alerts. Integrated as a separate add-on in earlier models, navigation now comes as a standard feature of the CUE information and media system. Electric windows and AM/FM radio are included in all base trims for all years. In 2016+ models, these high-tech features come as standard:
- Integrated Wi-Fi hotspot to keep you connected on the go
- Auxiliary audio input and USB connection for your phone
- Bluetooth, so you're all set up wirelessly
- Rear parking sensors to assist with backing up
As of 2009, a navigation system, DVD rear entertainment system and surround-sound stereo were optional.
Cadillac SRX Space
In general space in the Cadillac SRX is average compared to its competitors. Legroom is excellent in both the front and back seats, though in the back taller passengers might find headroom to be restrictive. The trunk is also quite roomy and can be expanded by folding down the rear seats. Models prior to 2010 were available with a power-folding third-row seat option, making switching from cargo mode to passenger mode a breeze.
Cadillac SRX Comfort
Suspension in the Cadillac SRX comes in three options: rear wheel drive, four-wheel drive and MagneRide. MagneRide uses shock absorbers for the smoothest ride on the roughest terrain. MagnaRide also forgoes the use of mechanical valves, adding to its reliability and durability. Both the 3.6 L V6 engine and 4.0 L V8 engine provide ample power for the Cadillac SRX. However, due to its excessive weight, acceleration and fuel economy aren't are good as they should be.
