Overview of the {make_model}

Learn about the Dodge Avenger

Summary

The Dodge Avenger is a spacious mid-size car available as a four-door sedan or two-door coupe. Though discontinued in 2014, you'll still see plenty on today's roads. Their popularity is due in part to its high horsepower and responsive handling, which make the car a real pleasure to drive. It's affordable, too, priced low next to its similarly designed cousins.

The Dodge Avenger also has above-average interior space, though some drivers point out that the interior lacks comfort and amenities compared to other cars in its class.

Safety

The Dodge Avenger has a fair number of safety features, even in their older models. As of 2008, the following features came standard:

  • Front-seat side airbags
  • Full-length head-curtain airbags
  • Tire-pressure monitor

And anti-lock braking system (ABS) is standard in all models except for the 2008 SE, where it's optional. Electronic stability control (ESC) and traction control, to reduce the risk of skidding when braking suddenly, comes standard in all 2011+ models and optional in older models. The latest 2014 model added active front head restraints.

Interior

Drivers had quite a bit of choice when it comes to their Avenger's interior. Depending on the model, you can find:

  • Luxury floor mats and an in-cabin air filtration system, standard in models 2009 onward
  • Optional premium leather seats (2013+)
  • Power windows and doors, a tilt-and-telescopic steering column and air conditioning—standard in all models

Drivers can also choose from a variety of upgrades, including an eight-way adjustable driver’s seat, automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and performance pedals.

Technology

Despite being discontinued in 2014, the Dodge Avenger has some relatively modern tech. Its last model year offered:

  • Auxiliary input jack to enable connection of media players
  • CD Stereo for playing CDs and listening to the radio
  • Optional U-Connect system with USB port and Bluetooth connectivity, so you don't need to go without your mobile devices
  • Optional infotainment and navigation system

In 2008, the base SE model came with a CD player, stereo and MP3-compatible auxiliary jack.

Space

The cabin of the Dodge Avenger is quite large, allowing five adults to sit comfortably in the sedan. In addition to the interior cabin, most trim levels also feature 13.5 cubic feet of cargo space, which will fit smaller loads like luggage or gym bags.

Comfort

While amenities might be slim, upgrading does give you more options. Heated seats in the front and rear are available, making those cold winter days more tolerable for all passengers.

A partial redesign in 2011 gave the Dodge Avenger a new suspension, improving the stability of an already smooth ride. Buyers of all models are guaranteed a roomy cabin with enough head and legroom so adults don't feel cramped. All-wheel drive is available with the sedan and is suitable for drivers who want a bit more control on the road.

Frequently asked questions

No. The Dodge Avenger is a mid-size sedan. If you're looking for a sportier ride, the SE and SXT trim levels do offer sport-tuned suspension.

Yes. While all-wheel drive was an option for the 2008 Avenger, it was replaced with front-wheel drive on all trim levels in subsequent years.
