The Expedition’s safety lineup starts with front and side impact airbags, plus an anti-lock braking system that’s been preventing skidding since the earliest models. Look to versions from 2007 and up for stability controls that come in handy when off-roading. Reversing cameras were added in 2008, along with an external washer so you’re never blind backing up. You can almost double that space by folding down the back row, and both rear rows can stow away if you have a major move. For even more storage, the Expedition MAX is a whole foot longer than the standard trim.

Power comes from the standard EcoBoost V6 engine, and tow-hooks on four-wheel drive models mean a fully equipped Expedition can pull up to 9,300 pounds.
