GMC Acadia Safety

The GMC Acadia provides a suite of standard safety features for all road conditions. All models 2014 and newer have available blind-spot monitoring and lane-departure warning to keep you safe during highway driving. Other available features include: 

• Auto high beams for greater visibility
• Auto braking to minimize high-speed collisions
• Low-speed forward-collision warning to avoid parking fender-benders 

A number of new advanced features became available with the 2017 model at the Denali trim level. Such features include pedestrian detection and Surround Vision with front and rear parking sensors to enhance driver awareness. Older models from 2007 come standard with antilock disc brakes and stability control to prevent skidding, full side-curtain head airbags for all three rows and an OnStar communications system that alerts first-responders in the event of a crash.

GMC Acadia Interior

Higher trim levels of the GMC Acadia come standard with heated front seats, power lumbar support and leather upholstery. Choose bench-style or captain’s chair second-row seating for easier access to the third row. For added luxury, the Denali trim features a heated power steering wheel and available dual-SkyScape sunroof. All generations offer a spacious cabin and folding third-row seats, so you and your passengers will never feel cramped, nor lack in cargo room. 

GMC Acadia Technology

A standard 4-inch customizable driver display monitoring speed, gas levels and other important information became standard in 2017. The GMC Acadia has long featured an available multimedia and navigation centre. In the newest models, GMC added a host of new functionality including a touchscreen, satellite radio and smartphone integration. Other available features and upgrades include:

• OnStar 4G Wi-Fi hotspot, so you’ll never feel disconnected 
• The myGMC smartphone app, which allows you to remotely control certain aspects of your vehicle
• GM’s Teen Driver technology for monitoring younger drivers’ speed, location and safety 

In the SLE trim, even the oldest generation (2007) comes standard with air-conditioning in the front and backseat, keyless entry and a six-speaker stereo system that can play MP3s and CDs. 

GMC Acadia Space

As a rule, the GMC Acadia is a very roomy SUV. All GMC Acadias have ample of space in the first two rows, particularly if you choose the captain’s chair option. Legroom in the third row is slightly tight in newer models, so look for a 2016 model or earlier if you want to maximize passenger space. Cargo space in the GMC can be described as cavernous with no exaggeration. Depending on the year, behind the third row is between 10 and 25 cubic feet of space that expands to between 80 and 115 cubic feet with all seats folded.  

GMC Acadia Comfort

While the entry-level Acadia is best suited for commuter driving, it can be upgraded to make it more suited going off-road. Those who want this freedom might be wise to choose the SLT2 or Denali models. Both have adaptive suspension and the twin-clutch all-wheel-drive system. These features give you the traction, stability and torque to take on the most challenging off-road conditions. Standard in all models 2017 and later, the StabiliTrak feature allows easy switching between two-wheel, four-wheel, Snow, Sport and Tow modes.
