GMC Canyon Safety

Although the GMC Canyon's advanced driver safety tech is reserved for its top models, many of the top-of-the-line features are available as optional add-ons for lower trims. In the 2019, you can add on forward-collision and lane-departure warning systems, which help prevent accidents and keep you driving straight, and six airbags and a rearview camera, as well as oversized sideview mirrors are optional.

Safety features across older generations include:

• Six standard airbags, as well as front and rear head-curtain (standard in 2010+ models, optional in earlier models)
• Optional traction control in all generations/trims
• Optional fog lamp (2012+ models)
• Four-wheel antilock brakes to prevent wheels from skidding when sudden braking is applied (standard from 2006)
• Electronic Stability Control to detect and minimize traction-loss (standard in 2009+ models)

GMC Canyon Interior

The interior features of the Canyon are generally consistent across all generations and trims, so no matter which one you choose, you can rely on your Canyon coming fully equipped. The only non-standard amenity is a heated front seat; however, it is optional for nearly all models. Interior features from 2008 models included power windows, air conditioning and tilt steering to optimize the comfort of arm-positioning, while fog lamps, leather seats and a sunroof were optional.

GMC Canyon Technology

The technology for the Canyon is impressive compared to other trucks in its class. In 2012, Bluetooth compatibility for Apple/Android became standard for all trims, much earlier than other similar trucks. In 2015, USB ports in the front were also added to base trims.

An infotainment media centre was introduced in 2015, with optional GPS navigation. The rear backup camera was optional for earlier trims but became standard in the new 2019 models.

GMC Canyon Space

With its powerful V6 engine, the Canyon's towing capacity has a rather high minimum rating of 1590 kg. In addition, the flatbed has decent room for everyday use, and cabin headroom is average for its class, though some legroom in the rear is compromised.

GMC Canyon Comfort

The GMC Canyon is available in two- or four-wheel drive, allowing its drivers to choose an option suitable for their use. Its suspension is above-average even in base trims, making for a comfortable ride on all roads, but for those who commonly go on the trail, an All Terrain model offers jacked-up suspension, cushioning its passengers on rough roads.

Leather seating is optional for all trims and most model years and standard for the SLT model, and a heated steering wheel is another add-on to customize the comfort of the Canyon.
