Nissan Frontier Summary
A solid and sturdy mid-size truck, the Nissan Frontier is a great all-rounder at a low price point. With an exterior designed for strength and resilience, it’s available in multiple trim varieties so you can find the one that suits you.
The truck’s firm chassis and option of 4x4 means you’ll have no trouble going off-road. The Frontier is no slouch on the pavement, either, especially in models where the base four-cylinder engine has been upgraded to a powerful V6. For trucks this size, the Nissan Frontier is as affordable as they come and has decent fuel economy to boot.
Nissan Frontier Safety
The most recent 2019 model of the Frontier pack the Nissan Intelligent Mobility™ suite, which includes numerous safety features. Notable among these are:
- Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, alerting you if you’re about to hit something in front
- Traction Control system to prevent slipping and sliding on icy or wet roads
- Vehicle Dynamic Control to apply the brakes if the system detects that you’re at risk
- Blind Spot Detection to keep you from being caught off-guard
Older models of the Frontier have plenty of notable safety features, too. All models have anti-lock brakes so you don’t skid in the event of a forced stop, with optional side and side-curtain airbags. On models from 2009, stability control is available to help keep you steady on those slippery roads (with LE and PRO-4X models only).
Nissan Frontier Interior
The Nissan Frontier sports a luxurious and elegant cabin interior. A choice of colours and fabrics let you make your mark. Available extras on all models include:
- Leather-trimmed seats for that extravagant feel
- Chrome accents
- Choice of King Cab or Crew Cab for two-door roominess or four-door practicality
Dual Zone Automatic Temperature Control, which easily regulates the climate inside the cabin, and a dash-inset navigation system are also available in newer models.
Nissan Frontier Technology
The Nissan Intelligent Mobility™ package in the 2019 Frontier features ProPILOT, which uses AI to keep you a safe distance from vehicles in front. The AI also comes in super handy with ProPILOT Park, which takes control of the truck’s systems to park itself.
Models with the NissanConnect® upgrade let you sync your smartphone with the full-colour touchscreen, and you’ll be able to use your apps, music and more with ease. Models from the early 2000s feature keyless entry and a six-CD sound system, working up to Bluetooth and on-board navigation in vehicles produced in the mid-2000s.
Nissan Frontier Space
Being a pickup, the Frontier has ample cargo space for hauling loads. With a mighty towing capacity of 6,720 lbs, it’s the leader of the pack in its class. The two-door variant is ideal if you’re likely to be travelling alone or with one companion, while the four-door version is more suited to families and longer expeditions.
Nissan Frontier Comfort
The Frontier’s impressive ground clearance and axle articulation allow it to move confidently over even super tricky terrain, so you can expect a smooth ride no matter where you’re going. Seats are sculpted to fit your body, minimizing the typical aches and pains from long trips.
