Nissan Pathfinder Summary
The Nissan Pathfinder is popular for its excellent off-road abilities, versatile interior space and impressive towing capacity, which surpasses that of comparable 4x4 vehicles. Now in its fourth generation, the SUV is available in two-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations, all with five-speed automatic transmission as standard.
Choose from up to four trims in each generation to find the car that works for you. The standard four-door model with seven-person capacity is a durable choice for families on the move, while drivers who frequently tackle muddy or rough terrain might opt for an off-road specific trim.
Nissan Pathfinder Safety
The Nissan Pathfinder’s standard safety features on models since 2008 include:
- Child safety locks
- Anti-lock braking to maintain steering control and prevent skidding
- Traction control, which activates on slippery surfaces
- Electronic stability control, improving stability by correcting over- or under-steering
- Driver and passenger airbags
Models from 2013 onward come with the brake assist feature for help with emergency braking, though base models don't have some of the driver assistance technology included with high-end trims, such as rear-view cameras for parking assistance.
Newest models come with Nissan Intelligent Mobility advanced safety technologies to prevent collisions. For example, Intelligent Emergency Braking uses cameras integrated into the front, back and sides of the car to spot potential hazards, then alerts the driver and applies the brakes.
Nissan Pathfinder Interior
The Nissan Pathfinder most recently underwent a design overhaul in 2013. Some drivers find the styling to be a little underwhelming, but the practical interior features are covered. All Nissan Pathfinder models from 2008 onward come with the following as standard:
- Keyless entry
- Vanity mirrors for the driver and passenger
- Power steering
- Adjustable steering wheel
- Power windows that can be operated at the push of a button
High-end trims have luxuries like heated steering wheels and seats, as well as leather upholstery. The newest generation offers steering wheel audio controls and auxiliary audio input as standard.
Nissan Pathfinder Technology
All Nissan Pathfinders include AM/FM radio and a CD player as standard, with higher-end models offering satellite navigation systems and DVD entertainment technology. Newer Nissan Pathfinder models come with an array of entertainment features such as Bluetooth streaming, USB ports and SiriusXM Satellite radio for commercial-free access to over 150 channels.
NissanConnect is an in-built navigation and infotainment system with a touchscreen display, voice recognition and Amazon Alexa integration. It is available on Nissan Pathfinder models from 2018.
Nissan Pathfinder Space
While some find the Nissan Pathfinder a little cramped in the third row, it’s generally considered a family favourite for its seven-person capacity and versatile cargo space. Folding seats in the back two rows and under-floor storage provide flexibility. Additionally, the Nissan Pathfinder can handle an impressive towing load of up to 5,000 lbs (6,000 lbs on 2017 models and newer).
Nissan Pathfinder Comfort
Nissan Pathfinders from 2013 onward have tri-zone climate control as standard, while it’s offered as an add-on in older models. It allows for individual temperature adjustment in all three rows, and heated or cooled seats for extra comfort. A panoramic moonroof option is available on high-end trims for added headroom.
