Honda HR-V history and evolution

Introduced in 2016, the Honda HR-V is still in its first generation. This means you won't find huge differences between new and used models, though some improvements were made in 2019. All models are equipped with a fuel-efficient 1.8-litre 141 horsepower four-cylinder engine. Six-speed manual transmission was offered from 2016 to 2018, while models from 2019 onward are only available with CVT automatic. Some drivers may find older infotainment systems a bit lacking, as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility were not added until 2019. Another 2019 enhancement was the addition of available safety technologies, including adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning and lane-keeping assistance. A redesigned second generation is expected to launch by 2023.

The 2022 Honda HR-V is available in four trim levels: LX-FWD, LX-AWD, Sport and Touring. Only the LX-FWD is equipped with front-wheel drive; the other three trims offer standard all-wheel drive. All 2022 models feature a 141-horsepower four-cylinder engine with continuously variable automatic transmission. In terms of safety, the 2022 Honda HR-V comes standard with Honda Sensing, the Japanese carmaker's suite of advanced safety technologies. These include forward collision warning, collision mitigation emergency braking and lane departure warning. Interior comfort and convenience features include heated front seats, automatic climate control with air filtration, and a digital touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone integration.
