The Dodge Challenger first launched in 1970 in both coupe and convertible styles. Designed to compete with the Ford Mustang, Dodge's new muscle car could be equipped with your choice of nine powertrains, ranging in power from 145 to 425 horsepower. That first generation of the Dodge Challenger was fairly short, running from 1970 to 1974. A second generation produced in Japan by Mitsubishi debuted in 1978.
