Toyota Highlander for sale

The Toyota Highlander was one of the first car-based SUV crossovers to hit the market, initiating a new trend that continues to grow. Originally released as a mid-size vehicle, it is now recognized as a large-size seven-seater. As the crossover counterpart to the truck-based Toyota 4Runner, the Toyota Highlander grew to become the company’s best-selling SUV before being dethroned by the economical Toyota RAV4.

Features of the Toyota Highlander

The Toyota Highlander is aptly defined as practical as opposed to stylish. The large SUV does away with the angular lines and curves represented in the Toyota Rav 4. Instead, the Toyota Highlander boasts a solid, streamlined look. The interior was given an equally basic treatment, avoiding anything overly high-tech in place of practically placed dials and controls. Leather seats come standard, along with power windows, doors and seating. Drivers like the comfortable ride, good visibility and fair handling.

The Toyota Highlander hybrid option

The Toyota Highlander has been available in a hybrid model since 2005. It was the first-ever hybrid vehicle capable of seating seven adults. The vehicle boasts Toyota’s house-made Hybrid Synergy Drive. The small battery is charged through the energy usually wasted from things like braking. Additionally, the two-engine system is highly intuitive, specifically when opting for electric over firing the petrol engine during slow stop-start traffic. The electric motor can struggle to sustain itself for extended drives compared to plug-in hybrids or full-on electric cars. Regardless, the hybrid version of the Toyota Highlander has been gaining momentum with customers.
