Acura Integra history and evolution
The Acura Integra debuted in North America in 1986 as part of the Acura brand launch. Marketed as the luxury brand's entry-level vehicle, the car was sold in Japan and other markets as the Honda Integra. Before being discontinued, there were three generations of the Acura Integra: 1986 to 1989, 1990 to 1993, and 1994 to 2001. From generation to generation, the Acura Integra became sleeker, sportier and more powerful with performance-tuned Type R models debuting in 1997. After retiring the Acura Integra name in 2001, the car lived on in North America as the Acura RSX from 2002 to 2006. An all-new Acura Integra is slated to begin production in mid-2022, replacing the Acura ILX sedan as the brand's entry-level vehicle.

As even the newest Acura Integra cars are already 20 years old, it is important to remember that available models are unlikely to be equipped with modern tech and safety features. The 2001 Acura Integra was produced in sedan and hatchback styles with four trim levels: LS, GS, GS-R and Type R. Interior features include a power glass moonroof, power locks and windows, air conditioning and a six-speaker stereo system with CD player. LS and GS models feature a 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine with 140 horsepower and your choice of a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. Power for GS-R models was boosted to 170 horsepower, but only manual transmission was available.
