The original Ford Bronco
While the Ford Bronco might be most famous (or rather infamous) for the 1994 OJ Simpson car chase, it actually has quite an interesting history. During WWII, Ford helped develop and produce the original Jeep, building 250,000 of the all-purpose military vehicles. In the 1960s, using that expertise, the company set out to design a car that combined the comfort of a family-sized vehicle with the utility of a truck and the capability of a G.O.A.T—a Go Over Any Terrain vehicle. The first Ford Bronco debuted in 1966 in three styles: the open-body Roadster, the Sports Utility with a pickup bed and the family-friendly Wagon. All three models were equipped with four-wheel drive, three-speed manual transmission and a 105 horsepower engine. Over the next 30 years, the Ford Bronco would evolve through five generations of two-door SUVs before being discontinued in 1996.
