Considered the world’s first SUV, the Chevrolet Suburban debuted back in 1935 as the Chevrolet Suburban Carryall, an eight-passenger wagon built on a truck frame. Now the longest-running nameplate in automotive history, the Chevrolet Suburban has evolved through 12 generations over 87 years. It wasn’t until the fifth generation, from 1960 to 1966, that the Chevrolet Suburban began to transform into a family-friendly SUV.
